    The Academy has disqualified Genevieve Nnaji's “Lionheart” from the Oscar race in the Best International Feature Film category, dropping the number of films competing for the award to 92 from what had been a record 93 entries.      This year’s field is now tied with 2017’s as the largest in the category’s history. It's disqualification drops the number of female directors in this year’s race to 28, which is still a category record. It was the first film ever submitted to the Oscars by Nigeria. “Lionheart' is partially in the Igbo language of Nigeria. But it is mostly in English, which violates an Academy rule that entries in the category must have “a predominantly non-English dialogue track.”

     The Nigerian Oscar Selection Committee has chosen Genevieve Nnaji's 'Lion Heart'  to represent Nigeria for the 2020 Academy Award for Best International Film.       This is the first entry ever for Nigeria. Lion Heart, released in 2018 had been previously acquired by streaming platform, Netflix.     We hope the movie wins the award category!

The actress who is currently in South Africa captioned: "South Africa has got the best #YupIsaidit" Given that she had the 'bla bla bla' going on on her t-shirt (saying you guys cabn say whatever you want to say) and she is mincing no words .What do you think Genevieve was referring to? What is that thing South Africa has that is better than Nigeria?

She addressed issues like why she never had a Glo endorsement deal like many of her colleagues, admitting negotiations between her and the telecommunication giant.Clarifying the insinuation about referring Chief Mike Adenuga to her manager,she claimed the story was false and went ahead to talk about her experience as a brand ambassador with other brands.

    Today May 3,2012, Nollywood star actress Genevieve Nnaji turns 33. Genny was born may 3,1979 in mbaise, imo state Nigeria. She started her acting career as a child actress in the then popular television soap opera  Ripples   at the age of 8.In 1998 at the age of 19 she was introduced into the growing Nigerian film industry with the movie “Most Wanted.  Genevieve has starred in almost 130 films till date .
