President made so many open-ended promises without clear deliverables or deadlines -Fela Durotoye

As I watched the events of the last 36hours unfold, I have had to explain to my wife and children why I am so silent, so angry and so sad at the same time? My silence comes from being in awe as I witness the unprecedented yet amazing collaboration of MILITARY and MILITANTS in accomplishing a common goal... to silence the voice of the people. I am so angry that precious lives have been lost as ordinary citizens protested against an unjust policy that was clearly not thought-through and yet, our President describes these fallen heroes as the "adverse effects" of the protest. I am angry that our President made so many open-ended promises without clear deliverables or deadlines and thought we would be gullible and simple-minded enough to say OK. I am so angry that in a hard-earned democratic dispensation, our elected officials went into the barracks and cantonments to invite the very same soldiers (who we fought to return to the barracks) unto the streets against unarmed p

Transcript of President Jonathan’s Broadcast -Reduces Fuel Price To N97

Dear Compatriots, 1.    This is the second time in two weeks I will address you on the deregulation of the downstream petroleum sector. In the last seven days, the nation has witnessed a disruption of economic activities.  Although, the economic imperatives for the policy have been well articulated by government, the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) went ahead to declare a nationwide strike.   2.    There was also near-breakdown of law and order in certain parts of the country as a result of the activities of some persons or groups of persons who took advantage of the situation to further their narrow interests by engaging in acts of intimidation, harassment and outright subversion of the Nigerian state. I express my sympathy to those who were adversely affected by the protests. 3.    At the inception of the deregulation policy, Government had set up the Justice Alfa Belgore Committee to liaise with Labour and other stakeholders to address likely grey

Can the Govt.Address Our Problems In Order of Importance?-BasketMouth #OccupyNigeria

Ace comedian Bright okpocha popularly known as basketmouth has shared his opinion on the recent removal of fuel subsidy .  Read what he shared below Subsidy is not really the problem, the problems here happen to be the ones we have been facing before we got Independence (ELECTRICITY,WATER,ROADS, SECURITY, EDUCATION,FUNCTIONAL REFINERIES just to name a few)  If the ref ineries were working, we wont be talking about exportation or importation of our own natural resources, if there was electricity, the consumption of fuel and diesel will be on zero %, because as it is, we spend more on our generators than we spend on cars daily. If the refineries were working and we had more, that is more employment,a better and stronger economy etc, if the educational system was in top form, youths wont be seeking admission in foreign schools, schooling abroad used to be luxury but now its a necessity. If the subsidy is removed today, how does that stop the excesses we spend on fuel in our gen
