Nollywood Actress Bimbo Akinsanya's attempted murder case adjourned

    Nollywood actress, bimbo Akinsanya is standing trial  for alleged conspiracy to murder one Reverend Pat Ogechi Dennah.     The Yoruba movie actress was alleged to have on 28 October, 2011 at 20, Samuel Street, Akowonjo, Egbeda, a suburb of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, conspired to commit felony by wounding Reverend Dennah. One of the charges reads:   “ That you, Bimbo Akinsanya and others now at large on 28 October, 2011 at about 2030hrs at No. 20, Samuel Street, Akowonjo, Egbeda, Lagos, in the Lagos magisterial district, did point Rev. Pat Ogechi Dennah to a boy yet to be identified, to kill her and the said boy shot her with a gun and wounded her on her left shoulder and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 338 of the criminal code cap C17 Vol. 11 laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2003.”     At the court yesterday 30th November,2011, the prosecutor told the court that the victim was still receiving treatment from the wounds he sustained from the gunshot.     He pra

Amy Winehouse's Back to Black dress sold for £43,200 at auction

     The dress that  Amy Winehouse  wore on the front cover of her  'Back To Black'  album has been sold for £43,200 at an auction in London.     The  BBC  reports that the printed chiffon dress, which was made by fashion designer  Disaya Sorakraikitikul , was purchased by the Chilean fashion museum Museo de la Moda at La Galleria yesterday (November 29) for more than twice the  £20,000 it was expected to fetch .       Sorakraikitikul donated the proceeds of the sale to the  Amy Winehouse Foundation , the charity set up by the late singer's family in July to honour her memory. Winehouse's father Mitch said he was "over the moon" that the designer, Disaya, donated the proceeds to a foundation set up in her memory. The 27-year-old singer was found dead at her flat in Camden in July.

Ragae star,Vybz Kartel Escapes From Prison After Holding Officer At Gunpoint

   ----  Named jamaican most wanted criminal       Jamaican dancehall star Vybz Kartel, who earlier this month was denied bail after being charged with two murders, has reportedly escaped from prison.       The popular artist had been in custody since October 1 after being charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder and illegal possession of a firearm following the deaths of Clive 'Lizard' Williams in August and Gregory Park in July.      Reports from Jamaica now claim Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, escaped from Horizon Adult Remand Centre along with seven other prisoners after apparently holding the prison guards hostage at gunpoint.       According to the Hype Life Magazine, one prison officer died of a heart attack as a result of the escape while 12 others were injured. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn breaks $500 million mark at worldwide box

Stand-up comedian Patrice O'Neal dies at 41 after suffering stroke

     Stand-up comedian Patrice O'Neal died on Tuesday at the age of 41 following a stroke last month, his agent said. "      It is with terrible sadness we must report that Patrice O'Neal has passed away this morning due to the complications of the stroke he suffered on October 19," O'Neal's agent Matt Frost said in a statement.   "Many of us have lost a close and loved friend; all of us have lost a true comic genius," Frost added.       O'Neal, who appeared on Comedy Central celebrity roasts and on Conan O'Brien's and David Letterman's late night TV shows, was also a frequent guest on the "Opie & Anthony" radio show on Sirius XM.     "Yes it's true that our pal Patrice O'Neal has passed away. CBN Governor,Lamido sanusi voted Forbes Africa person of the year

     Nigeria's central bank governor Lamido Sanusi has been voted Africa Person of the Year by Forbes magazine .  Forbes magazine's readers gave Mr Sanusi the most votes in an online poll .       He beat Mrs Sirleaf, the Liberian president who was awarded this year's Nobel Peace prize, Mr Dangote, a Nigeria business tycoon who tops Forbes' list of Africa's richest people, former Cape Verde President Pedro Verona Pires, who won this year's $5m (£3.2m) Mo Ibrahim prize for good governance in Africa and Wangari Maathai, the Kenyan Nobel Peace laureate who died in September.         Results were  announced yesterday  at the Forbes Africa Person of The Year 11 awards in Lagos.
