' The Help' Star and Oscar Winner 'Octavia Spencer' Honored By Hometown

   Oscar-winning actress  Octavia spencer  was  honored today March 22  at the Alabama Statehouse, where about 400 people turned out to welcome her.     She was honored with    her own day officially procclaimed Octavia Spencer Day.The honors come after Spencer's oscar win for her supporting turn in the Box office  hit  The Help . Governor  Robert Bentley  and Montgomery Mayor  Todd Strange hosted    the celebration .     She rode up to the Statehouse in a pink limousine for the Wednesday ceremony. As she stepped out, she was serenaded by the band from her alma mater, Jefferson Davis High School. Spencer told the crowd that she would do whatever she could to see that more movies are made in Alabama. She also cautioned young people in the audience to think twice before heading to Hollywood to become a movie star. 'The Help' Leads Screen Actors Guild Awards Winners- Full Winners List

                    The Help Cast-Chris Lowell, Emma Stone, Octavia Spencer, Allison Janney and Viola Davis     The 18th Annual Screen Actors Guils Awards took place last night in Los Angeles .  Three of the five film awards was handed to performers in the 1960s civil rights drama "The Help'.       The cast of the film received the group's top honor, the SAG ensemble award.
