     On Saturday, all of Black Hollywood’s elite descended upon Atlanta to celebrate the grand opening of Tyler Perry Studios, the first ever fully black-owned film studio lot. As The Hollywood Reporter points out, the studio has no proprietary partners or corporate backing.      Notable guests at the grand opening gala included Samuel L. Jackson, Cicely Tyson, Oprah Winfrey, Ava DuVernay, Stacey Abrams, Halle Berry, Tiffany Haddish and a surprise appearance by Beyoncé and Jay-Z.

Tyler Perry has officially found himself among the stars.  On Wednesday, the acclaimed director, writer and actor was there for the dedication of his star on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood. "For anyone whose dreams may be on life support, I want you to walk past this star in particular and know that I've been there," Perry said This recognition comes amid a prolific career in entertainment.

    Filmmaker Tyler perry is defending his controversial decision to cast reality television star Kim kardashia  in an upcoming film about marriage.    Perry announced that Kardashian will have a role in "The Marriage counselor" shortly before she ended her 72-day marriage to NBA Player kris humphries, creating a buzz on social media sites.      Perry says he wanted a younger cast, which Kardashian rounds out, to help attract younger viewers. In a statement on his website, Perry says he thinks "it would be a very responsible of her to be a part of this film" and good for young people who see her as a role model to "see her in a film that is about what happens in life when you make the wrong choices."
