Titanic Passes $2 Billion Mark in Lifetime Ticket Sales

    James Cameron has shored up his position as king of the worldwide box office .Cameron's 1997  blockbuster  " Titanic " sailed beyond the $2 billion mark in lifetime ticket sales, thanks to a 3-D re-release of the film that was timed to the centennial of the ship's sinking.    Only one other movie has topped $2 billion, and it's also Cameron's. His 2009 sci-fi smash "Avatar" earned $2.8 billion worldwide.     The "Titanic" reissue took in about $100 million this weekend ,$11.6 million domestically and a whopping $88.2 million in 69 overseas markets. That included a $58 million debut in China and put the re-release total worldwide at $190.8 million.Added to the film's $1.84 billion haul in its original release, "Titanic" now stands at $2.03 billion worldwide.

"It kicks the whole experience up to another level."The director came to London fresh from his latest venture, which saw him descending seven miles (11 1/4 kilometers) below the surface of the Pacific to the deepest place on Earth. James Cameron Sued for $2.5Billion Over Avatar Movie

    Avatar  director James Cameron has been sued for the second time in nearly as many weeks by someone claiming to have come up with the idea for the sci-fi mega-hit . Bryant Moore  , a science fiction writer claims Cameron used the two screenplays as the basis for "Avatar."      In his lawsuit, Moore points out various similarities, including bioluminescent flora/plant life, unbreathable atmospheres, matriarch support of hero vs. heroine, spiritual connections to environment and reincarnation, appearance of mist in scene, sunlight to moonlight, crackling from gargantuan foliage, blue skin/green skin and battle scene on limbs/branches.    Accordong to TMZ, Moore is also going after 20th Century Fox and Cameron's production company.  He wants more than $1.5 billion in actual damages and more than $1 bil in punitives.     Cameron's attorney, Bert Fields, and Fox both slammed the latest suit by science fiction writer Bryant Moore as without merit.  Avatar was re

James Cameron releases Titanic 3D trailer - See it

       James cameron has released the 3-D conversion of his 1997 epic due in theaters in April,and will  be distributed by Paramount Pictures and 20th Century Fox .          The two studios are spending $18 million converting the film, a winner of 14 Academy Awards and the highest grossing movie of all time until Cameron's "Avatar" knocked it from its perch in 2009.       They are banking on fans coming back to theaters, just as they did for Disney's recent 3-D conversion of "The Lion King. James cameron to re-release Titanic in 3-D next year

    Paramount Pictures and 20th Century Fox announced Thursday that James Cameron's Oscar-winning film will be re-released April 6 next year.
