'The Hunger Games' Tops Easter Box Office

  The Hunger Games  dominated box office for the third straight weekend, adding to its record-setting debut  2 weeks ago.     "Hunger Games" took in $33.5 million afrom Friday through Sunday and lifted its domestic sales through three weekends to $302.8 million.     The Easter weekend receipts for "Hunger Games" topped "American Reunion," a sequel to one of film's biggest comedy franchises which grossed $21.5 M and a 3D remake of "Titanic" timed for the anniversary of the ship's sinking which grossed $17.4M. It was the third straight box office win for "Hunger Games."     Rounding out the top five, 3D action sequel "Wrath of the Titans" rung up $15 million,S now White story "Mirror Mirror" took in $11 million, landing in fifth place. 

'The Hunger Games' Tops Box Office For Second Week

      The Hunger Games dominated box office for the second straight weekend, adding to its record-setting debut a week ago. "Hunger Games" pulled in $61.1 million from Friday through Sunday.It  was released into theaters last weekend with the third-highest grossing domestic opening in film history and biggest for a non-sequel.       Second place for this weekend belonged to action sequel "Wrath of the Titans" with $34.2 million. "Mirror Mirror," a family-oriented Snow White story, brought in $19 million, taking third place.    The Hunger Games  is a post-apocalyptic drama based on the first of three best-selling young adult novels by Suzanne Collins   starring  Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth,,check the trailer below.

    The highly anticipated Drama " The Hunger Games "opened with a staggering $155 M ,ranking as the third-highest domestic opening in history. Tom Cruise's Mission Impossible Tops Box office For Second Week With $31.3M

     Tom Cruise 's mission Impossisble 4 :Ghost protocol   remains impossible to beat at the box office. Box office chart  places " Mission: Impossible  Ghost Protocol" in the No. 1 spot for the second-straight weekend with $31.3 million  which makes the  worldwide total to $134.1M. Robert Downey Jr.'s " Sherlock holmes : a game of shadows " from Warner Bros., finished second again with $22.1 million, raising its worldiwde total to $132.1 million.    The 20th Century Fox family sequel " Alvin and the chipmunks " is still at No. 3 with $18.3 million to lift its haul to $94.6 million. Sherlock Holmes" Sequel Tops box office with $54.7M

  Action adventure film "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" led a trio of sequels at the box office over another underwhelming weekend that saw ticket sales fall from last year.       Robert Downey Jr.'s follow-up to the 2009 hit "Sherlock Holmes" pulled in an estimated $54.7 million Worldwide including   $40 million from the United States and Canada, where the movie topped the domestic charts, plus $14.7 million from six international markets.     "Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked," the third film in the popular family franchise, rung up a global total of $38 million in sales, including a second-place domestic finish of $23.5 million. Thirty-eight international markets added $14.5 million.  Overall, the domestic box office repeated a sluggish trend of recent weeks .     There is no stopping the Twilight saga-Breaking Dawn part 1 as it tops the box office over the weekend with $16.9M.     The Muppets , a movie that returns Kermit, Miss Piggy and their puppet friends to the big screen for the first time in 12 years, finished in second place with $11.2 million .Third place for the weekend belongs to Hugo which was at the fifth place last week.    The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part 1" earned an estimated $42 million in theaters from Friday through Sunday .     The Muppets, a movie that returns Kermit, Miss Piggy and their puppet friends to the big screen for the first time in 12 years, finished in second place with $29.5 million over three days. Third place for the weekend belonged to 3D animated film "Happy Feet Two," which brought in $13.4 million. Immortals tops the Box office chart with $32M

      New entry,Immortals tops the box office over the weekend .The story of Greek hero Theseus took in $32 million domestically, while Adam sandler's comedy "Jack and Jill" opened at No. 2 with $26 million, according to studio estimates Sunday.      The new movies bumped the animated hit "Puss in boots" to the No. 3 spot after two weekends at the top. "Puss in Boots" earned $25.5 million, raising its domestic total to $108.8 million.      Director Clint eastwood's "J. Edgar," a film biography starring Leonardo DiCaprio as longtime FBI boss J. Antonio Banderas' Puss in Boots tops Box office chart with $34M

    The "Shrek" spinoff "Puss in Boots" landed on all fours, opening with an estimated $34 million to lead the box office. The DreamWorks 3-D animated film, distributed by Paramount pictures, proved the popular character voiced by Antonio Banderas was a big enough draw outside the "Shrek" franchise. Last week chart topper,Paranormal Activity moved to the second spot while new entry "In time starring pop singer ,Justin Timberlake debuted at No 3. 1. "Puss in Boots," $34 million.
