Jeff Bezos named richest person in the world third year in a row

          For the third year in the row, Mr Bezos has earned the top spot in  Forbes’  list of billionaires. Despite his $40 billion divorce, a contributing factor to the $18 billion drop in his net worth last year, bringing him down to a paltry $113 billion,  Mr Bezos is still the man on top.     Just over half the world’s billionaires have lost money due to the virus, collectively losing $700 billion since 2019. Taking their losses into account, this year the billionaires are worth only $8 trillion.

Bill Gates tops Jeff Bezos as richest person in the world

  Bill Gates is back on top.     On Friday, Gates surpassed Amazon ( AMZN ) CEO Jeff Bezos to reclaim the distinction of richest person in the world, with a net worth of $110 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.      It's the first time the co-founder of Microsoft ( MSFT ) has held the top spot in over two years. He briefly topped Bezos last month after Amazon reported that its profit for the three months ending in September fell nearly 28% from a year earlier. But Gates' time at the top was short-lived.  Bezos, who this year paid out a significant portion of his Amazon stake in his divorce from his wife of 25 years MacKenzie Bezos, now sits at second with a net worth

Jeff Bezos Overtakes Bill Gates To Become World's Richest Man

     Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has overtaken Bill Gates and is now the richest person in the world, with a fortune topping $90 billion for the first time ever. When markets opened on Thursday, Bezos had a net worth of $90.6 billion, putting him more than $500 million ahead of Microsoft founder Bill Gates. Amazon stock opened up 1.6% on Thursday, adding $1.3 billion to Bezos’ net worth. That was enough to put him ahead of Gates, who was last surpassed on Forbes’ real-time rankings for just two days nearly a year ago by Spanish retail giant Amancio Ortega.  Bezos is now the seventh person to hold the title of the world’s richest person and the third American to top the global ranks besides Gates and Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett.
