Youtube is developing a new app service that will displaced TikTok.  The new service will be called Shorts.          Just as TikTok, it will be a short video service, the videos are going to show up in the newsfeed of the YouTube app.  A new category will be created for this. Just as TikTok, Shorts will allow users to create short videos and add music to them, all the licensed tracks from YouTube Music catalog will be available for that. They plan on launching this service before the end of 2020

    Today December 7,2011,  YouTube launches Youtube.com.ng which will offer Nigerian users more relevant content, and provide a platform to share Nigeria’s unique and diverse culture and lifestyle with the world’s largest online video community.          Youtube has   partnered with local broadcasters and content producers to help bring popular Nigerian content to the whole world. Partners include  Chocolate City ,  Storm 360 ,  Nollywood Love ,  Channels TV , and  Lagos Television .       They have also launched the  YouTube Partner Program  which helps video creators develop their channels, grow their audiences and generate revenue.   YouTube unveiled numerous high-profile names among the channel producers, including Jay-Z, Amy Madonna, Pharell williams, shaque o' neal and many other stars     Youtube   is about to strengthen its chokehold on the world with some expansion through more channels from famous folks. Jay-Z  is getting a channel as an extension of his Life + Times site while  Pharrell  is doing a show about creative thinkers and  Shaquille O'Neal  is bringing a comedy network to the net.      Teen Idol, Justin bieber has set a new YouTube record, becoming the first person to have two billion views on his YouTube Music Channel, report CNN . Justin, who’s hard at work promoting his Holiday CD, Under the Mistletoe, had 94 million views on his channel in the past month alone. The last artist to set a record was  Lady Gaga , who in October 2010 became the first to garner one billion views.     Under the Mistletoe, released Tuesday, is Bieber’s first effort as a baritone, a signthat he is maturing into a man.       A woman named Mariah yeater accused him of fathering her 3 month old baby yesterday ,but he has denied the allegation 

     Around 1,000 films, including blockbusters such as The Dark Knight and classics including The Birds have been made available to view on the site.    New releases will cost £3.49 to rent, while library titles will be £2.49. Users have 30 days to begin watching a film, and 48 hours to finish it once they start.    The UK is the third territory to get the movie rental service after the new venture was launched in the US and Canada.YouTube announced in a blogpost that partners providing movies for the UK service include Universal, Lionsgate, and Entertainment One, as well as independent British film makers such as Metrodome and Revolver Entertainment.   The current number one rental on the UK YouTube service is the movie Exit Through The Gift Shop by street artist Banksy.Once a film has been rented, it can be watched on any computer on which a user has signed in to their YouTube account.
