Wyclef and Martelly M usician Michel “Sweet Micky” Martelly scored a come-from-behind victory Monday in Haiti’s presidential runoff.

Wyclef on sickbed R apper and former Haitian presidential aspirant Wyclef Jean was shot Saturday night in Delmas, Haiti.

Wyclef and Michel Martelly     Hip-hop musician Wyclef Jean on Wednesday endorsed the candidacy of popular carnival singer Michel "Sweet Micky" Martelly in his bid to become the next president of Haiti.

Sean penn,wyclef,pras michel When the singer and musician launched a highly-publicized bid for president of Haiti in August he had a lot of support, but also some very vocal detractors — namely actor and fellow activist Sean Penn and Jean's former Fugees bandmate Pras.

In an interview with the Muslim network Al Jazeera, Wyclef Jean, who had high hopes of running for president of Haiti despite the fact that he’s not a resident of the island, said Haitians  “ don’t need a local president , I think we need a global president,  someone that can travel .”

Haitian hip-hop star Wyclef Jean has formally registered his bid for the presidency of his earthquake-ravaged homeland.The three-time Grammy award winner greeted crowds of cheering supporters in the downtown area of Port-au-Prince after registering his intention to run in the November 28 election. There are reports that the musician is mulling a run for the top office in Haiti. Reached by phone, Jean told CNN that talk of a campaign is a bit premature as he is still mulling it over . “I can’t sing forever ,” Jean said.

Colombian pop star Shakira met child survivors of Haiti's earthquake on Sunday as her charity prepared to build a school in the disaster-stricken Caribbean country. The singer, who has already joined Hollywood actors and other global celebrities to raise funds for the victims of the January 12 earthquake, flew into the wrecked Haitian capital Port-au-Prince aboard a private jet. At the planned site of her Barefoot Haiti school, she met about a hundred children, some of whom danced to her songs. She then toured a camp housing nearly 50,000 people on a golf course. There, she met U.S. actor Sean Penn, whose own charity is also helping victims. "We've come to make all the preparations to be able to start the building of a Barefoot school here in Haiti," Shakira told Reuters in a brief interview.
