    After seven years with a no-host format,  the Grammys  will have an emcee   LL Cool J .   The Grammy-winning rapper and actor says the Feb. 12  broadcast  is "gonna be a great night" and says his hosting duties are a dream come true.       The  Recording Academy  has already named some performers the  Foo Fighters , ,nicki minaj  Taylor Swift ,  Bruno Mars  and Jason Aldean.       It will be LL Cool J's first time hosting the Grammys. He has been hosting the live Grammy nominations concert since it began in 2008.    The Grammys will  broadcast on CBS from Los Angeles. The last host of the Grammys was Queen Latifah. Nigeria's  femi kuti  was  nominated for the third time in the world music category .

Taylor and nicki at  Billboard honor last month    Popular country singer Taylor swift , rapper Nicki Minaj and singer bruno mars have been announced as performers at   the 54th Annual Grammy Awards, which will air on Feb. 12 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.      Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj  who were honored as Billboard's  Woman of the Year and Rising Star of the Year  in december  2011 are up for three awards and four awards, respectively.   Kanye West  led all artists with seven nods ,Nigeria's femi kuti was also nominated for the third time in the world music category .

    Grammy just announced its Special Merit Awards recipients and this year's selections are Allman Brothers Band ,Glen Campbell,Antonio Carlos Jobim,George Jones ,the Memphis Horns ,Diana Ross ,Gil Scott-Heron.       They will receive Lifetime Achievement Awards while Steve   Jobs, who died in October, is among those receiving  the Trustees Awards that recognise "outstanding contributions to the industry in a non-performing capacity".    The iPod creator is honoured for his part in devising "products and technology that transformed the way we consume music, TV, movies, and books.     The special invitation-only ceremony will be held during Grammy  Week on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, and a formal acknowledgment will be made during the 54th Annual Grammy Awards telecast, which will be held at staples center in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012.
