Femi Kuti,Masekela Perform As Back2Black Festival Debuts With Afrobeats In London

    The stories and glories of African music and its global off-shoots will be celebrated in London from June 29-July 1,2012 when a host of singers and players from both sides of the Atlantic Ocean come together as the third  annual Back2Black festival    ,the biggest black music festival in Latin America debuts in london.     " We want to focus on Britain's history and its deep relationship with Africa. Femi Kuti Loses Grammy Award to Malian Band 'Tinariwen '

   Afrobeat Maestro Femi Anikulapo kuti has lost this year's grammy award. Femi who got nominated for the third time through his Africa for Africa LP  lost the  highly coveted award to Tinariwen , a  band of Tuareg-Berber musicians from the Sahara Desert region of northern Mali.   Tinariwen won the newly-combined categories of the grammys . The world music album  category had been previously been divided into traditional and contemporary categories. Tinariwen     Other Nominees in the category include Latin/Roots music band AfroCubism, South African male choral group Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

Femi Kuti Not Attending The Grammys On Sunday

    Nigerian afrobeat star Femi anikulapo kuti who has been nominated for world music category at the 2012 Grammy awards  has disclosed he will not be attending the Music's biggest Night.      Femi disclosed to punch through his sister yeni that he doesn't see any reason to attend because of his earlier experience in 2003 ,rather he will be at the african shrine performing for his fans .        Femi was said to have attended the grammys that year without his record label joining him ,he felt sad and immediately sacked his management . This is the third time he is getting nominated for the highly coveted award.    The Music's biggest Night will be hosted by Rapper LL COOL J at staples center,Los Angeles coming sunday.

After Successful surgery, Adele to perform at the Grammys

Taylor and nicki at  Billboard honor last month    Popular country singer Taylor swift , rapper Nicki Minaj and singer bruno mars have been announced as performers at   the 54th Annual Grammy Awards, which will air on Feb. 12 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.      Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj  who were honored as Billboard's  Woman of the Year and Rising Star of the Year  in december  2011 are up for three awards and four awards, respectively.   Kanye West  led all artists with seven nods ,Nigeria's femi kuti was also nominated for the third time in the world music category .
