The Avengers Becomes Third Highest Grossing Film of all Time

  "The Avengers" has become the third highest-grossing film in box office history, behind "Avatar" and "Titanic.     " The Walt Disney Studios high-thrills action adventure made in collaboration with Marvel comics earned $7 million over the weekend, for a total of $598 million since its release in early May. And it has crossed the $600 million US box office threshold on Tuesday,disney said in a statement.    The Movie has grossed $1,438.3 million worldwide "The Avengers" starring Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Downey Jr, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson and Mark Ruffalo was made for an estimated $220 million The two greatest money-making movies were Canadian James Cameron's "Avatar" ($2.78 billion) and his "Titanic" ($2.19 billion).

Disney's Animated Movie 'Brave' Tops Weekend Box Office

        Animated family movie " Brave, " about a rebellious Scottish princess, rode to the top of the weekend box office charts iwith $66.7 million in ticket sales.     "Brave," the new fairy tale from Walt Disney Co's Pixar studio, knocked another animated adventure, "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted," to second place with over $20 million after two weeks at No. 1. Taking the No. 3 slot, new thriller "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" brought in $16.5 million .   Fox 's Prometheus and universal's snow white and the huntsman completed the top five with $10million  and $8million  respectively. 

"Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted" Tops Box Office For Second Week

'Men In Black 3' Dethrone 'Avengers' at Box Office With $55M

    The third " Men in Black" alien action comedy has bumped the mighty " Avengers " from the top of movie box office charts.      "MIB 3", starring Will Smith, racked up $55 million from Friday through Sunday.The movie  is expected to haul in a global $202 million over the four-day holiday weekend, according to sony pictures.       It is the first "Men in Black" film to reach theaters in 10 years, and the best performing film since the franchise began in 1997.  Avengers took in $37 Million making it second after topping the Box office for three straight weekends.       Universal's "Battleship" was No. 3 in its second weekend with $10.8 million, . Paramount's comedy "The Dictator" took in $9.6 million to finish fourth in its second weekend.     Marvel’s The Avengers ”  has topped the box office for a third straight weekend. The superhero blockbuster took in $55.1 million to lead .    Battleship starring pop-star rihanna   which had high hopes of becoming a summer blockbuster could rake in  only $25.3 million this first weekend.   The dictator was at the third place with $17.4.Dark shadows and what to expect when you are expecting completed the top five with $12.7 and $10.5 respectively.     The Avengers” opened over the weekend of May 4 with a record $207.4 million in sales and set another record a week later with $103.2 million to cross the $1B mark, the most ever for a film in its second weekend.

          'The Avengers' has topped the box office for a second straight weekend. The superhero blockbuster took in $103.2 million to lead .     The Avengers" lifted its international for a worldwide haul of just over $1 billion. The action smash from Disney's Marvel Studios easily fended off  Johnny Depp and Tim Burton's vampire romp "Dark Shadows," which had a domestic start of $28.8 million to finish second.      'Think like a man' and 'the hunger games' were third and fourth with $6.3 and $4.4 respectively.The lucky one completed the top five with $4M.

"Think Like a Man" Tops Box Office For the Second Week

  Romantic comedy "Think Like a Man" won the weekend box office race for a second straight weekend with $18 million      Think Like a Man," based on Steve Harvey's dating-advice best-seller features Michael Ealy, kevin hart  ,Taraji P. Henson and Gabrielle Union.    New animated movie "The Pirates! Band of Misfits" landed in the No. 2 spot with $11.4 million from Friday through Sunday. Third place belonged to love story "The Lucky One," which took in $11.3 million during its second weekend in theaters. The Hunger games and the five year engagement completed the top five with $11.25M and $11.16M respectively.

Vampire Movie Sequel 'UnderWorld Awakening' Tops Box Office With $25M

     New Entry ,the horror movie sequel “ Underworld Awakening” topped the box office chart this weekend. The Sony/Screen Gems release took in $25.4 to take the top slot.It  was followed by the World War II action drama “Red Tails” which brought in $19.1 million and last week chart topper 'Contraband' which brought in $12.2M respectively.     Contraband took the top slot at the weekend box office. The Universal action drama featuring Mark Wahlberg took in $24 million to place first at the weekend box office  .        The twilight saga  has staked out another huge opening with a $139.5 million first weekend domestically and a worldwide launch of $283.5 million.     The domestic total gives "The twilight saga-Breaking Dawn part 1 — Part 1" the second-best  debut weekend  for the franchise, after the $142.8 million launch for 2009's "The Twilight Saga: New Moon."
