Legendary Musician Ebenezer Obey Clocks 78

    Legenday highlife/juju musician Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi is 78 today. Nicknamed the Chief Commander, he was born on April 3, 1942.   Obey married Juliana Olaide Olufade in 1963.   His wife, known as Lady Evangelist Juliana Obey-Fabiyi, died at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital on 23 August 2011, aged 67. They have several children and grand children.

Ebenezer Obey To Go on US Tour

       Chief commander Evangelist Ebenezer Obey fabiyi is ready to tour the US. The juju legend will start the tour on August 23 and will end on september 23 ,2012 .     The tour which is being packaged by World Audience promotions in collaboration with afriQtalk will see obey perform in major cities in the US. Arik Air is the official sponsor .     Obey who recently celebrated his 70th birthday will be performing with his fellow juju legend King sunny ade at the oleku concert on May 27,2012 at the Harbour point Victoria Island.

Evangelist Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi Turns 70

    Today April 3,2012  marks the 70th birthday of  Juju Icon   Evangelist  Ebenezer Remilekun Aremu Olasupo Obey-Fabiyi  . Obey who is nicknamed Chief commander  was born in Idogo, Ogun State, Nigeria of Egba-Yoruba ethnic background. He is of the Owu subgroup of the Egba.   He began his professional career in the mid-1950s after moving to Lagos under the tutelage of Fatai Rolling-Dollar's band, he formed a band called The International Brothers in 1964, playing highlife-juju fusion. The band later metamorphosed into Inter-Reformers in the early-1970s, with a long list of Juju album hits on the West African Decca musical label.   Obey began experimenting with Yoruba percussion style and expanding on the band by adding more drum kits, guitars and talking drums. Obey's musical strengths lie in weaving intricate Yoruba axioms into dance-floor compositions. The Inter-Reformers band excel in praise-singing for rich Nigerian socialites and business tycoons.
