Wyclef and Martelly M usician Michel “Sweet Micky” Martelly scored a come-from-behind victory Monday in Haiti’s presidential runoff.

Wyclef on sickbed R apper and former Haitian presidential aspirant Wyclef Jean was shot Saturday night in Delmas, Haiti.

Sean penn,wyclef,pras michel When the singer and musician launched a highly-publicized bid for president of Haiti in August he had a lot of support, but also some very vocal detractors — namely actor and fellow activist Sean Penn and Jean's former Fugees bandmate Pras.

In an interview with the Muslim network Al Jazeera, Wyclef Jean, who had high hopes of running for president of Haiti despite the fact that he’s not a resident of the island, said Haitians  “ don’t need a local president , I think we need a global president,  someone that can travel .”

Haitian hip-hop star Wyclef Jean has formally registered his bid for the presidency of his earthquake-ravaged homeland.The three-time Grammy award winner greeted crowds of cheering supporters in the downtown area of Port-au-Prince after registering his intention to run in the November 28 election. There are reports that the musician is mulling a run for the top office in Haiti. Reached by phone, Jean told CNN that talk of a campaign is a bit premature as he is still mulling it over . “I can’t sing forever ,” Jean said.

Rihanna join Wyclef Jean for a special episode of “The Oprah Winfrey Show” today, focusing on the devastation in Haiti in the wake of last week’s 7.0 earthquake and what people can do to help. Wyclef will give a first-hand account of his recent visit to his home country; R&B singer Maxwell will also be on hand for the special. Rihanna will perform her version of Bob Marley’s classic “Redemption Song,” which you can hear below and is currently available for sale on iTunes, RihannaNow.com and Oprah.com. All proceeds will directly benefit organizations spearheading relief efforts in Haiti, including the Red Cross, UNICEF, Oxfam America and Partners in Health. Though the original was more subtle, RiRi’s version includes an organ, shakers, a piano, a more up-beat acoustic guitar and a not-so-nice high note at the end
