Osita iheme and jackie appiah at the AMAA nominations party in gambia    The Organizers of African movie academy awards(AMAA)  have just announced the venue for this year's award.        The event has been scheduled to hold at Expo hall of  Eko Hotels & Suites on April 22 2012.Popular  nollywood actors and actresses attended the nominations party in Gambia few weeks ago .Lancelot Imaseun's Adesuwa , Kunle afolayan's phone swap , Somewhere in Africa  got  nominated for top awards  .    Haitan born actor Jimmy Jean Louis will host this year's AMA Awards.

    The Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), the continent's most prestigious awards for filmmakers announced the nominees in Banjul, the capital of Gambia, at an exclusive ceremony attended by celebrities, top government officials and capitals of industry from Gambia and other African countries. Lancelot Imasuen 's new movie Adesuwa received eight nominations including AMAA 2012 Prize for Best Film and AMAA 2012 Best Nigerian Film.Kunle Afolayan's new movie phone swap was also nominated in AMAA 2012 Best Nigerian Film category .Other notable nominees are somewhere in Africa, Ties that Bind,Man on ground.     Haitan actor and model   Jimmy Jean-Louis of the Phatz Girls , Sinking Sands fame has been announced as the  main host of the 2012 African movie academy awards ( AMAA).      The 44 year-old thespian who recently received achievement award at the 20th edition of PAN African film festival is  best known for his role as The Haitian on the NBC television series Heroes.    AMAA Awards nomination night where the nominees will be announced will  hold   in Banjul, Gambia on Saturday March 17, 2012. African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) received 328 entries from filmmakers across Africa , 88 short films, 57 documentaries, 43 entries from Africans in Diaspora, 6 animations and 134 features films.  The Main Award ceremony will hold April 22,2012.
