    Kevin Hart has announced he is stepping down as host of next year’s Oscars ceremony following an outcry over perceived homophobic comments and tweets from the comedian. On Friday Hart posted an apology to the LGBTQ community on Twitter for his past “insensitive words” and confirmed he would not take on the gig, so as not to be a “distraction”. “I have made the choice to step down from hosting this year’s Oscars,” wrote Hart.     Kevin Host is officially set to host the 91st Academy Awards ceremony. "I will be sure to make this years Oscars a special one," the comedian wrote in an Instagram post, adding, "now it's time to rise to the occasion."    The star is emceeing the event for the first time. First-time producers Donna Gigliotti and Glenn Weiss will oversee the show, with Gigliotti serving as producer and Weiss on hand as co-producer and director.

    "Think Like a Man" and "The Lucky One" have finally  knocked "The Hunger Games" off its No. 1 box-office perch. "Think Like a Man," based on Steve Harvey's dating-advice best-seller, debuted as the top weekend draw with $33 million,  the movie  features Michael Ealy, kevin hart ,Taraji P. Henson and Gabrielle Union.      The Warner Bros. drama "The Lucky One," starring Zac Efron in an adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' romance novel, opened at No. 2 with $22.8 million.       Stand-up comedy specials often earn strong ratings on television and sell briskly on DVD, but rarely do they make it to the big screen.           That’s what makes the success of “ Kevin Hart : Laugh at My Pain” at the box office last  weekend all the more implausible. The film, comprised primarily of footage shot during one of the comedian’s shows at the Nokia Theater last February, opened last weekend in 99 theaters and collected $2 million.
