Fuji Legend 'King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal' Turns 55

    Today March 3,2012, The King of Fuji Music in Nigeria, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal  turns 55 .        Born Wasiu Ayinde Adewale Omogbolahan Anifowoshe on the 3rd of March 1957 in Agarawu, Lagos Island, the young Wasiu began his career in music soon after his father died when he was just 13 years old.      He released his first album in 1980.In 1984 he released the classic album “Talazo 84″, featuring a new up-tempo and dynamic beat that was instantly dubbed the “Talazo System” The album became an instant hit and fuji music has never been the same again.            The impact of that album transformed Wasiu into a national icon, and within a few years, he had incorporated western elements into the music such as the keyboard, saxophone and guitar .   Among his many awards are FAME musician of the year, best Fuji artist at the NMA (Nigerian Music Awards) and best African artist at the WOMAD Festival in Reading 1996. In 1994, Wasiu was crowned the King of Fuji music, and officially re-named

KWAM 1 Plans 55th Birthday and 40 years on Stage

    Fuji Legend , King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall is planning a double celebration,his 55th birthday and 40 years on stage .     According to reports gathered, KWAM 1 is putting finishing touches on his new mansion in Ijebu-ode, ogun state and as soon as the house is completed,the double celebration will hold .   A committee headed by his(Kwam 1) manager ,Percy ibikunle ademokun has been set up to organize the double celebration scheduled to hold in June.  King Wasiu was recently named leader of Fuji Musicians ,assuming late barrister's position.

King Wasiu Ayinde named Fuji musicians leader, assumes late barrister's position

       Elders and Executive members of Fuji Musicians association of Nigeria ,FUMAN have named King wasiu Ayinde Marshall the Grand patron of the Association. They honoured him with the title during their visit to his Ijebu ode,Ogun state residence. The honour was backed with a letter dated 25 October, 2011 and a communiqué signed by at least 34 state chairmen, including the President of the association, Alhaji Saka Odunsi a.k.a. Saka Orobo       Speaking after the presentation of the letter, King Wasiu said that he is highly elated to step into the shoes of the late Alhaji Ayinde Barrister. “I have said it time without number that I am bigger than the National Chairman of FUMAN and I am not contesting it with anyboby.     Continuing, he said that with the honour bestowed on him, he will continue to contribute to the development of the association and that he will ensure that the association is well organised
