RnB Queen and MOBO Ambassador Alesha Dixon and MOBO Recommends rising star Yasmin were on hand to announce that the show will take place in the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) on 5th October this year.

We made music history in 2009 when the show was transported out of its birthplace in London for the first time, and taken to the SECC Glasgow who hosted one of the most jaw dropping shows to date. Our CEO and Founder Kanya King MBE remembers 2009 fondly:

"We had such a fantastic experience when we hosted the MOBO Awards here in 2009, that it felt very natural for us to want to return and build on our great relationship with the city.”

Alesha Dixon, co-host of the action packed 2010 Awards Show at the Liverpool Echo Arena, wenton to say:

"I am truly delighted to announce Glasgow as the host city for this year's 16th MOBO Awards. I hosted the event last year with Reggie Yates, and back in 2002 with LL Cool J and it was a wonderful experience. The music scene here in Glasgow is very vibrant, no doubt because of the passionate audiences here in Scotland. I adore working with MOBO as they have such a valuable and pioneering ethos which translates into a powerful programme of events."

Guests at the announcement included representatives from our host city partners EventScotland, Glasgow City Marketing Bureau (GCMB), the SECC, Mike Cantlay Chair of Visit Scotland and city council leader Gordon Matheson. Our return to Glasgow is a testament to the fantastic vibe and diverse nature of the city, the inherent love of music amongst Glaswegians and the enthusiasm of the Scottish audience. Plus we really love Tunnocks Tea Cakes in the MOBO office!

Both the 2013 and 2015 shows will mark special occasions for MOBO and for Glasgow, with the 2013 show taking place in the new National Arena next to the SECC and the 2015 show marking our 20th anniversary.
