Nigerian Idol Kicks off in Enugu


Nigerian Idol will be starting auditions on the 8th of October at Universal Hotel in Enugu. The auditions will last in the state till the 11th of October. After the auditions in Enugu, the next stop will be the capital city of Abuja and from the 15th to the 18th auditions will be held at Nicon Luxury Hotel.


From October 22 to the 24 it would be the turn of Calabar at the Cultural Centre. Lagos would be the last stop; from the 29th of October to the 31st auditions will hold at the Nigerian Idol studios in Lagos.
Last week Nigerian Idol was formally launched at a press conference in which the show’s host- Yemisi Fajimolu was introduced to the public. The dynamic, young and fresh OAP who is popularly known as Misi works at a Lagos based radio station. At the conference, the judges were also unveiled to members of the public who had been yearning to know the identity of the judges for the hugely anticipated show.
The three judges are Jeffery Daniel, Yinka Davies and Audu Maikori, all talented and respected individuals in the music industry. Yinka Davies is a seasoned singer and songwriter and has been relevant in the music industry for over a decade. Audu Maikori is a lawyer and CEO of Chocolate City which is the home of brilliant recording artistes such as Jesse Jagz and M.I. Daniel on the other hand is an African-American dancer, choreographer and singer-songwriter, performer. He's well known as a member of soul group Shalamar and for performing "the backslide", a physically complicated dance technique, now known as the "moonwalk".They will be saddled with the responsibility of judging the performances of the contestants and make sure that the contestants for the show are of the highest quality.
Transmission of Nigerian Idol will start from the November 2010 to March 2011. So for all months, Nigerians will have the pleasure of watching one of the most successful franchise shows on Nigerian television.

Just like the original Idols, Nigerian Idol will not only focus on hunting and discovering talents, , our aim is also to nurture and expose these talents to a global audience through local and international partner platforms.
100 hopefuls selected from audition centers in Abuja, Lagos, Calabar and Enugu will be given an opportunity to become Nigeria’s next international superstar.
Broadcast starts on November 21, 2010 all the way to March across partner stations  all over the country.
