Is Tolu losing steam in the project fame academy?

Its crunch time in the third season of MTN Project Fame West Africa. The pressure is already mounting up and it’s beginning to show on some of the contestants. Every week a new contestant cracks under the pressure which most times sees them being eliminated from the show.

Last week, the pressure bug seemed to have hit Tolu who many believe had it what it takes to win the competition. Tolu who is one of the crowd favourites failed to impress the judges not once but twice when he performed two songs during last week’s double-header night at Project Fame.
Tolu who is accustomed to giving stellar performances was brought back crashing to planet Earth after his first performance was below par at best. The first song he sang was Usher’s You Remind Me and it was obvious that this golden boy was not in the zone at all. After his performance, Nomoreloss told him that all it takes is one bad performance and the audience will turn their back on him. He implored him to step up his game and that he believed in him.
The funny thing was that he wasn’t the only contestant who had a bad first performance. While most of the other contestants were able to shrug off their bad performance, Tolu failed to. The second song he sang was If Love Is A Crime by visiting judge 2 Face Idibia. From the way he sang it was obvious that what was troubling him hadn’t left him. After his performance Kwame advised him to rest his voice during the week and rediscover his passion and soul. His performance was so off that the Faculty who are known for protecting their students confessed that there was a problem and that they would fix it in the Academy.
The questions many are now asking is: can Tolu’s problem be fixed? Is it something that will be rectified? Or has Tolu’s brilliant run come to an end? Next week will tell if Tolu still has it in him. It would most definitely be a shame to see him go. The young singer is one of the few contestants who many believe has what it takes to challenge for the top prize with Kesse, the contestant from Ghana who is largely seen as the contestant who could take home the prize.
If Tolu fails to step up, elimination is inevitable. With him out of the picture, Chidinma, Ochuko, Christian and maybe Eyo will have to battle Kesse for the top spot. But who knows maybe Tolu can rebound and have his best performance ever this week. Igniting the lost passion in Tolu would be one of the hardest jobs the Faculty will encounter this season. Can they do it? Can Tolu rebound from his slump? Or will he fade away and be eliminated? This week’s show will tell. Don’t you dare miss it!
