Pregnant teen thrown in canal by rappers who plotted murder on internet chatroom

A pregnant schoolgirl was thrown into a canal by two teenage rappers who plotted to kill her during a nine-hour spell on internet chatrooms.
Kingsley Ogundele, who battered the 15-year-old, and Brandon Jolie - who was the father of the girl's unborn child - face life imprisonment when they are sentenced at the Old Bailey today.
The girl was only rescued from drowning by a passer-by dragged her to safety.
Logs from the chatrooms have revealed how the two 19-year-olds made a ten-point plan for murder while watching episodes of Heroes, a TV series about people with superpowers.

The canal

Jolie, the victim's former boyfriend, claimed the girl was jeopardising his chances of fame in the grime music scene by refusing to have an abortion.
In November last year he lured her to Regent's Canal in Islington - where Ogundele was waiting - with a series of text messages and phone calls.
The girl, now 16, who cannot be named because of her age, was pulled from the water by Andrew Hall, a 30-year-old tour guide who lived nearby.
Ogundele, of Romford, was convicted of conspiracy to murder and Jolie, of Tower Hamlets, pleaded guilty to the same charge.
Both men are well-known MCs and rappers. Jolie's songs have been aired on Kiss FM and his MySpace website says his music has been used on East-Enders.
The chatroom logs revealed their determination that the victim had to die. But they also discussed what they were going to eat for dinner and Ogundele even took part in a forum on grime music

Detective Inspector Helen Williams of Islington CID said: 'It was not until we found the chat logs that we realised just how callous they were.
'They left a 10-point plan of how they were going to do it which they forgot to delete. It became apparent, especially through the trial, that Ogundele is very cold while Jolie seemed a little more contrite.'
Mr Hall was returning to court today to be commended for his heroism. Ms Williams said: 'If it was not for Mr Hall this would have been a murder inquiry. But he heard the screams of her being pushed in, confronted Ogundele, chased him off then pulled her out of the water and got her to safety.
'He was her guardian angel but he is a very humble man and doesn't want this treated as out of the ordinary.'
The victim told police how her hooded attacker hit her repeatedly over the head with a metal pole.
'I have got an image in my head that he was smiling,' she said. 'I don't know if he kicked me or pushed me into the water... I think he was pushing my head down.'
She said she thought she was going to die and felt herself 'giving up' before she was pulled to safety. She later had her baby
