Arthur Guinness’ 250 Years Celebration Concert: Tuface Must Perform

The Arthur Guinness 250 years celebration concert was a very memorable one.
First, was the exceptional fact that it was on this exact day in 1759 that the great Arthur Guinness started what is today a global brand of alcoholic beverage, to the fact that at the same time the concert was going on here in Nigeria it was happening live in Dublin and both countries could hear/see themselves on the Huge viewing screens placed above the concert stage. Also the crowd were thrilled with performances by M.I alongside Jesse jags, Ice Prince and a special feature with the Nigerian dancehall sensation General Pype due to popular request from the crowd who were shouting “track 5, track 5… teaser, teaser (The track with M.I.)” Dbanj, Wande Coal and the Mo’Hits crew also performed to screaming crowds, The Dynamic duo of P-Square also performed.

The high point of the concert were many but two stood out. The refusal by P-Square to continue or end their performance after the show organizers GUINNESS told them that Tuface Idibia could not perform due to time constraints, so that Sean Paul could perform as he will be going to the airport immediately after to beard a flight to Miami on another engagement. They refused to step off the stage but rather notified the crowd of Nigerian fans what was transpiring backstage and implored them to stand in solidarity by refusing to have another artiste perform albeit the show headliner Sean Paul except the organizers let TuBaba perform first. They refused to leave the stage and on prodding from the event organisers they threw the microphone into the crowd and walked out in anger alongside Tuface. It was a thing of joy and unity to hear the crowd screaming and shouting we want Tuface over and over on the urging of P-Square. Cans of drinks both empty and filled, were thrown onto the stage along with whatever debris the crowd could lay their hands on. At a time that the show compere Basket Mouth had to plead with them as they were even pelting him with empty cans of bottled water and stout. Some even threw stones onto the stage.
