First Ever Authorized Documentary on Bob Marley to Debut


   The life of Jamaica’s greatest ever musician Robert Nesta Bob Marley will be encapsulated in film for the first time ever for the world to see later this month.
    On monday Feb.6,2012 which would have been Bob's 67th birthday ,his family announced the first ever authorized documentary on the singer will be released in cinemas this April.
   The documentary titled “Marley” is being executive produced by Island Records’ founder Chris Blackwell, as well as Bob Marley’s son Ziggy Marley.The documentary will make its world premiere at the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival this February, and will premiere in North America, at SXSW this March.
   “This documentary is the ultimate revelation of my father’s life,the family is proud to be able to have the world finally experience this emotional journey,” Executive Producer Ziggy Marley said in a statement..
  The documentary is comprised of rare footage, archival photos and interviews with family, friends and bandmates.
      VH1 has licensed the documentary through their Emmy-Award winning VH1 Rock Doc franchise.
  Bob Marley was born Robert Nesta Marley on February 6, 1945 .He remains the most widely known and revered performer of reggae music, and is credited with helping spread both Jamaican music and the Rastafari movement to a worldwide audience.
He died of melamonia at  University of Miami Hospital on the morning of May 11, 1981, at the age of 36.
