Christy Essien igbokwe's burial details revealed,to be buried on september 9


      A week-long burial programme has been announced for Nigeria’s Lady of Songs, Christy Essien-Igbokwe, who died on June 30.

   Events lined up to celebrate the life of the singer and actress will hold from September 3 to 11 in Lagos.
    Head of the burial committee, Austin Izagbo, disclosed the activities at a press conference held at Niteshift Coliseum, Opebi, Lagos on Tuesday, August 2.
He disclosed that the burial will start with a two-part ‘Football Match of Stars’ on Saturday, September 3.


    The first soccer game will be between music figures and Nollywood stars; while the second will between members of the Sport Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) and entertainment writers at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, by 2pm of the same day.
A Christy Essien-Igbokwe memorial symposium titled ‘The Artist in the Socio-Political Development of a Nation’ will hold at the National Theatre, Lagos, on Monday, September 5, by 10am.
      
    As further tribute to the Lady of Songs, a red carpet event has been slated for Tuesday, September 6, at Niteshift Coliseum. It will feature ‘The Five Divas’ whose identities Izagbo did not disclose in a medley of ‘The Best of the Lady of Songs.’
     There will be a musical stampede alongside simultaneous candlelight processions across the country on Wednesday and a public lying in state at ‘Entrance A’ of the National Theatre from 10 am to 3pm. A service of songs follows at the Airways Ground, Oba Akinjobi Street, Ikeja.


      A private lying in state holds on Friday, September 9, at her residence: 43, Talabi Street, Ikeja. It will be followed by a funeral service at Archbishop Vinning Memorial Church, Ikeja.
‘Seun Rere’ singer goes home
        Rounding up the burial event for the ‘Seun Rere’ crooner is an outing service on Sunday, September 11, at Archbishop Vinning Memorial Church.
